Dehumidification & Room Air Conditioning:
With the addition of the optional remote condenser, the Dehumidifier Corporation of America system will provide cool dry air to the conditioned space. An automatic change over thermostat allows the system to maintain the desired room temperature whether summer or winter.
Dehumidification & Room Heating
Dehumidifier Corporation of America’s computer designed system takes moisture laden air from the conditioned space and passes it over the deep row dehumidification coil. The temperature of this air is lowered to its dew point temperature and water is released to the coil from the air. This air is immediately passed through a re-heat coil raising the temperature equal to a combination of sensible and latent heat from the refrigeration cycle. The air leaving the dehumidifier is 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the air entering. This warmer air adds room heating and is beneficial during the cold months.
Why Can’t Air Conditioners Be Effective Dehumidifiers?
The primary function of most A/C systems is to transfer heat from indoor environments to the outdoors. The evaporator coil design of most A/C systems dictate a tightly configured design of aluminum fins which do a good job of transferring heat but a poor job of dehumidification. Tests have shown that when A/C systems are installed in high humidity situations, their service life is severely affected. The overall life span of Dehumidifier Corporation of America systems in high humidity applications when compared to air conditioning is much longer. A/C systems provide some dehumidification while discharging cool air only creating a cool clammy environment that requires costly re-heat to make these rooms comfortable.

A humidistat starts the dehumidifier upon a build-up of humidity in the room and stops when the set point is reached. The room heating or cooling is controlled by an automatic change over thermostat that controls the optional remote condenser.

Dehumidifier Corporation of America (DCA) is a US Corporation that is totally dedicated to the field of Dehumidification. The owners and key management personnel have over 35 years of dehumidification experience. Prior to founding Dehumidifier Corporation of America in 1995, the principals, Gary and Jim Metzger, founded Desert Aire. The success they enjoyed with Desert Aire, one of the first swimming pool dehumidifier manufacturers in the world, led to an unsolicited offer to sell Desert Aire to a holding company after being in business for 16 years.
Still having a great deal to offer the industry, the Metzgers soon found themselves developing new and innovative products, capitalizing on their previous experience and product knowledge, and bringing better more cost effective products to market. It was not long after that that they founded Dehumidifier Corporation of America, enlisting Graham (also from Desert Aire) and Jeff Gelhaar as partners in the new venture.
