Product Description

 Plate & Frame Filters:

The plate and frame filter design is the standard in basic process depth filtration in applications across various industries including pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmeticfood & beverage. Plate and frame filter presses provide the lowest cost of filtration per unit of fluid processed. ErtelAlsop offers specific filter designs, with unique features for flow rates ranging from large volumes to pilot plant and laboratory scale filtration.
Our plate and frame filters are manufactured using our superior internally ported design offering a number of benefits over external porting. Internal ports allow for a greater choice of filter media in a broad range of material and thickness, including pads, paper and cloth. In an internally ported filter press the filter media itself works as the gasket, eliminating concerns over gasket-product compatibility. With no need to change gaskets, you save time, money and labor. Plate and frame filters with internal ports are also inherently more sanitary since there can be no cross-contamination of O-rings from batch to batch due to product holdup.
Larger cake accumulation results in longer filtration cycles and even more importantly, the ability to achieve efficient washing of the cake to recover valuable product for further processing. Product recovery via cake washing is one of the major economic benefits of using plate and frame filter presses.
ErtelAlsop plate and frame filter units are designed to accommodate a wide range of components. These include sludge inlet frames for cake accumulation, dividing heads for multiple-step/one-pass filtration, sanitary fittings, special piping and gauges as well as pumps and motors to meet a wide range of applications. For filtration/separation processes where a sealed, vapor-tight environment is desired, ourVapor-Master enclosed plate and frame filter press is the answer.

Recessed Chamber Filter Presses:

ErtelAlsop’s dewatering filter presses are among the most efficient means of liquid-solid separation through pressure filtration, either for solution filtration or sludge volume reduction. They provide a simple reliable method of high compaction pressure to compress and dewater solids into filter cakes of 25-60% total concentration. This provides clearer filtrate solutions than other filter press systems that only remove free water.
The EA Series Line of heavy duty recessed chamber filter presses, and our membrane squeeze filter presses, are available in 100 PSI or 225 PSI design rating, and for solids handling ranging from 1 ft³, all the way to 350 ft³.
Thirty-two (32mm) millimeter gasketed polypropylene filter plates are standard on all models, making these heavy-duty filter presses well suited for applications, which require leak-free processing. Other standard features include a chemically resistant painted steel skeleton, 304 stainless steel bar wear strips, schedule 80 PVC head connections, four corner discharge, hydraulic closure system, and a full 6 year framework warranty.

About ErtelAlsop:

ErtelAlsop is the result of the merger of Ertel Engineering and Alsop Engineering. Ertel Engineering was founded by Frederick Ertel in 1932 in New York City. He originally manufactured and sold depth filter media for the pharmaceutical industry. In 1938, he moved his company to Kingston, New York, about 100 miles north of Manhattan, on the Hudson River. In Kingston, Ertel expanded the business to include plate and frame filter presses, pumps, agitators, bottle fillers, and other equipment for liquid processing. In 1943, Ertel developed the first pyrogen retentive filter media for Bristol Laboratories, to use in the manufacturing of penicillin for World War II. In 1979 Ertel patented the first enclosed horizontal plate and frame filter press in conjunction with Avon to eliminate vapors from Avon’s production floor in order to improve working conditions. As usual, Ertel was willing to go the extra mile to provide a solution for its customer’s application.

Alsop Engineering was founded by Samuel Alsop in 1920.  Alsop’s first product, The Sealed Disc Filter, was an enclosed horizontal plate filter. Alsop’s first filter sheets were manufactured for them by Ertel Engineering. In the 1940′s, Alsop invented an accordion shaped filter cartridge, which provided an enclosed filtration environment and much shorter changeover cycles than plate and frame filter presses. This was the first Zeta-Pak® lenticular cartridge. In addition to the cartridges, Alsop designed the corresponding filter housings. Originally vertical with removable covers, these housings have evolved to include horizontal mounting, ASME code, and sanitary designs. Alsop’s product line was not limited to filters alone, it also included tanks and portable mixers. Available in both direct and gear-driven models, the mixers were unique because the same base components were used from 1/4 to 3 horsepower designs. This feature allowed the end user to maintain common parts for various sized agitators.

ErtelAlsop’s customer base is filled with clients who have been buying from us for over 80 years. Our commitment to customer service and willingness to modify our designs to meet customer requirements continues to make ErtelAlsop stand apart from our competitors.
