HORIZONTAL LEAF FILTERS:
Funda Filter / Horizontal Leaf filters are highly standardized and retractable type of filter equipments, which are made in two configurations, namely horizontal and vertical. Difference between horizontal and vertical leaf filters is in the difference in orientation of the leaf in them. Such filters are user as well as eco friendly, as during filtration leaves are inside the closed tank. Feed enters through the side of the tank, filtrate passes through the leaves into a discharge manifold. Use of filter aid powderis advisable. Filtration is possible at elevated pressures. This provides better technical options for filter press as well as sparkler filter. They can be used for polishing of the slurry which contains very law solid content and even for slurry with very high solid content. No of leaves can be kept as per the requirement of the operation, property of the material, rate of filtration. Lots of permutation - combination can be made. As for example, for fast filtering slurry space can be doubled by removing every second plate so space doubles but area reduces to half.
- A set of horizontal or vertical leaves is held on a retractable rack.
- As per application horizontal or vertical version can be used.
- They are of closed type filter units. It is mechanically simple.
- No complex sealing glands or bearings are needed.
- It economizes the operation as far as labor is concern.
- Filtration in most of the cased is done through screen, so use of fabric to support the cake can be avoided.
- They provide automatic discharge of the cake.
- Particles up to 80 micron size can be removed by filtration.
Horizontal leaf filter can provide surface area up to 300 m2. This version is used to replace filter press. It can be better used for sticky products. Heavy process industrial application useshorizontal version. This are better for high solid content removal up to 20-25 %.
Vertical leaf filter can provide surface area up to 100 m2. This can better replace sparkler filter, as they offer very high surface area then that. This type is used for fine chemical application for removal law suspended solid content like activated carbon, Ni catalyst, brine, crude oil etc which are in the range of 5-7 %
