Evaporator (Falling Film / Rising Film)
Product Description

Agitated Thin Film Evaporators:

The mechanically Agitated Thin Film Evaporators give excellent performance with viscous or heat sensitive products. They are ideally suited for concentration, evaporation, distillation, de-odourisation, degassing, reaction of viscous, heat sensitive or fouling products. These evaporators have improved several products.

How they work :
An Agitated Thin Film Evaporators has a vertical jacketed cylinder with a closely fitting rotor. During operation the rotor revolves at a high speed. A distributor spreads the incoming feed uniformly over the cylinder top periphery. The rotor blades pick up the material, spread it over the heated surface in a thin film and agitate the film intensely as it travels down the heated cylinder. The vapours generated rise counter-currently through the inbuilt entrainment separator. Here the entrained droplets are separated from the vapour stream. The clean vapours leave the evaporator through a nozzle at top. The concentrated product leaves the evaporator through the bottom.

Features :

Intense agitation of thin film on the heated surface promotes high heat transfer rates and suppresses fouling
Short residence time of 5 to 20 seconds and narrow spread of the residence time distribution is an important feature for heat sensitive products
Operating pressure upto 1 torr
Required evaporation is achieved in a single pass, avoiding products re-circulation
Excellent turn down capability
Low product holdup, ideal for hazardous applications
Different rotor configurations to suit variety of applications
Operates in continuous mode. Requires smaller vacuum system and less utilities

Applications :
Pharmaceuticals - Vacuum distillation of bulk drugs, intermediates, APIs, herbal or oil extracts, vitamins, hormones, enzymes, alkaloids. Desolventizing of delicate plant and fermentation extracts, concentration of fermentation broths, organ extracts. Solvent recovery from contaminants.
Food – Concentration of fruit juices and pulps, condensed milk, butter, whole milk, meat extract, cocoa, lecithin, glucose, fructose, sorbitol, honey and syrups, oleoresins.
Plastics – Plasticizers, polymer condensate, polymers, polyacrilonitrile polyester, polypropylene glycol, polystyrene, polyurethane, silicone oils, latexes like acrylonitrile,, styrene, PVC, rubber, butadine-styrene, bisphenols, glycols.

Rising Film / Falling Film Evaporators:

These shell and tube type Tubular Evaporators give excellent performance for dilute feed streams. They provide cost effective solutions due to their simple construction.

How they work :
These are Tubular Evaporators having heating media on the shell side and the process liquid in the tubes.
In case of Rising film evaporator, the liquid feed enters the evaporator through bottom header and moves upward through tubes. It receives heat from the heating media on shell side. The vapour is generated in the tubes which starts rising up pulling the liquid in the film form. The vapour and liquid enters the vapour-liquid separator where they are separated. Vapour moves upward to vapour nozzle while the concentrate moves down to concentrate nozzle.
In case of Falling film evaporator the liquid feed enters at top, gets distributed uniformly in tube bundle by a distributor. The feed flows downwards along the tube walls as a film. It receives the heat from the heating media on the shell side. Vapour is formed and the concentrate flows downward along with the vapour. The entrained liquid in the vapour is separated in the separator and flows upward to vapour nozzle.

Features :

Cost effective construction, ideal for simple evaporation, concentration applications
Ideal for volume reduction of dilute streams
Can be used under recirculation mode
Continuous operation
Good for moderately heat sensitive products
Can operate under reasonable vacuum
Multiple effect arrangement provides steam economy

Applications :
Concentration of dilute solutions by evaporation of water or organic solvents
Solvent recovery from contaminated feed
Concentration of herbal extracts
Concentration of oleoresin and natural products under vacuum
Reboiler to distillation columns
Concentration of fruit juices

Forced Circulation Evaporators:

These shell and tube type evaporators outperform other tubular evaporators when used for water with dissolved salts or organics with tendency to foul the evaporator tubes.

How they work :
This is a tubular evaporator having heating media on the shell side and the process liquid in the tubes. It has circulation loop equipped with high flow circulation pump.

The feed is introduced into the loop at the bottom. The high flow recirculation pump (Axial Flow Pump) forces the liquid through tubes. It picks up the heat from the shell side steam and flashes in the separator. The flashed vapour moves upward to vapour nozzle of the separator while the concentrate flows down to concentrate nozzle. The concentrate is re-circulated in the loop with high flow. A part of concentrate overflows out from the separator. The liquid height is engineered to avoid the nucleate boiling within evaporator tube bundle. The high flow circulation helps solids to remain in suspension and suppresses fouling.

Features :

Reduced scaling, ideal for materials with precipitation or crystallization tendency
Concentration values more than the limits of conventional tubular evaporators when handling feed with dissolved salts
Multiple effect arrangement provides steam economy
Equipped with axial flow pumps having high capacity with minimum power

Applications :
Pre-concentration of scale prone liquids before drying
Evaporative crystallization
Wastewater concentration for volume reduction
Concentration of organic and inorganic salt solutions

About Us:

Techno Force Solutions was started in 1990 to manufacture process equipment based on Thin-Film technology, mainly Evaporators, Dryers and high vacuum Short Path Distillation Units. A pilot plant (test center) was also started simultaneously. The Extractors, Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger and Waste Water-Zero Discharge Systems were added subsequently to the product range in response to the demand from customers.
We supplied several hundred systems to the process industry for a wide variety of applications in pharmaceutical, bulk drug, natural product, polymer, petrochemical, dye and dye intermediate, agrochemical, pesticide, oleoresin, speciality chemicals. We have satisfied customers in India, North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and South East Asia.
Our emphasis is on single point solution to the customers starting from lab scale study, pilot plant trials, scale-up, mechanical and process design, manufacturing, project execution, erection, commissioning and after sales services.

The supply can be in the form of bare equipment or as a skid unit i.e. with equipment, piping, structural frame and instrumentation. The skids are pre-erected at our factory for inspection before dispatch.

Our shops meet requirement under ASME `U stamp, European PED `CE mark` and China Special Equipment Manufacturing License. In-house facilities of manufacturing and testing ensures quality and reliable delivery.
